Building a B16
Guys, my motor is doing 120+kms ,my tuner gave me the advise to build it for boost, so I went ahead and bought parts of the internal build for now
cp 9:1
eagle rods
clevite bearings
golden eagle block guard
cometic gasket
arp head and main studs
value seals
he told me keep the head stock as my hp goal is about 300 hp
BUT everyone I know with a boosted honda are saying do to this as a project with another motor!!!!!!
This car is my daily driver..whats your opinion?

nothin wrong with building the b16 up..
personally I woulda got stuff for an LS block, built an LS/Vtec and just used the head off the b16... but nothin wrong with doin it this way... just alittle less tq with the b16...
300whp on either is no problem, with the right setup

with a good tune and quality turbo components 300whp will be cake for that motor. i would just get arp head studs, arp main studs are unnecessary and they require an align hone.

Re: (mike@synapse motorsport)
I built a similar setup just recently and I'm going for 400whp. I am just over 1000 miles on the build and it runs great. I'm only boosting 10psi right now until I get bigger cams.
Everyone is always talking down the "torqueless" b16. I don't see this as such a big deal. When you're making soo much torque with an LS/VTEC boosted setup you just can't keep the tires from spinning on the street even if you have drag radials. This is useless torque. I have enough problems as it is with my b16 on only 10psi and around (estimating) 275-300whp. Since the b16 has such a great rod to stroke ratio you make up for the torque with the abillity to rev the given crap out of it. In my opinion you will be plenty happy building and boosting the b16...with the money saved from having to buying an LS block and LS/VTEC conversion kit you can put your hard earned money somewhere else like a nicer turbo manifold or something else. For the street a b16 is plenty enough power/torque.
Also for alittle extra power try getting GSR cams as they are a cheap (around $50) way to extract alittle more power out of a b16.

Yeah I had problems with the b16 spinning waaayyy to much its almost pointless to have that much power on a fwd with street tires. Unless you just want to highway race.
