Default Ls/vtec set up

I was going to put a Gsr swap into my 92 vx civic but when I looked at the GSR motor closley since it came from a wrecked GSR I realized that the block my not be any good. I have a 94 Ls block that I am thinking of putting with the GSR head. I am wanting to salvage as much from this Gsr motor as possible so i was wondering what I could use form the Gsr block? What would it take to swap the GSR block gurdle in the ls block and would it be worth it? Will the Gsr pistons swap over with any problems and what kind of compression increase would they give? While I have the block apart would it be smart to bore the block out .010? With the GSR pistons what would I be safe milling the head to? thanks

you can modify the block girdle to fit, and it would be worth it if you have it. you can also swap over the oil pump and water pump if they are still good. also, if you are gonna build it, build it right. gsr pistons will swap over with no problems. using the gsr pistons will give you close to 10.2:1 compression. you can also mill the head with no problems either, but not too much. i would suggest using jdm p73 pistons over sized. this will give you 11.6:1 compression with a gsr head. this is safe to run on the streets if you were curious.

i believe you would need to shave the LS rods for the gsr pistons to fit.

something a compitent machine shop would have to do anyways. you can just pop out the wrist pin and swap pistons. it would be very easy for a machine shop to do. the machine shop i went to did it without me even having to tell them.

dont use the gsr pistons, there is not much gain over your stock ls pistons. if your going to swap the pistons go ahead and use some ITR or PR3 slugs. DO NOT MILL YOUR HEAD!!! Pistons are your best way to up compression

it will raise his compression .5 over the ls pistons. if he is trying to save money, it will work. personally, i would just buy new pistons.
