I'm going to do the same thing to my b18b del sol soon. I've already put in the swap minus the vtec head and tranny.
you'll need/want
vtec tranny(for optimum vtec performance)optional
pined or forged rods(for durability)
gsr/b16/type r water pump and oil pump
vtec pisons(give higher compression, go with forged for reliabilty, stay less than 11:5:1 for every day driving-i.m.o. totally optional) or go with lower comp if you want to go turbo.
performance clutch pressure plate(why go stock when you can give it a little more grip)
adjustable cam gears(for tuning)optional don't use if you are not familiar with tuning.
hondata(again for tuning, you won't find an ecu set up for optimum perfromance stock for the ls/vtec but is optional plenty of people run stock ecu's and get great times) I've also heard of people keeping the p75 ecu and adding vafc to controll vtec, yet here in the dirty south I haven't seen it first hand.
vtec dizzy obd matched for your car/dizzy
line to run oil from oil press. switch to head.
skunk valve train would be sweet to add on as well if your staying all motor.
last but not least as with any honda build up project one big savings acct.

most of this is optional with the exception of the ecu and oil line. the more you got to blow the better the ls/vtec will be both power wise and in reliabilty. We haven't even disgussed exhaust/ throttel body/intake manifold/intake or all the other little fancy power adding goodies concerning the firing system and fuel system.
I may have missed a few but i'm sure it will be pointed out

i say ur best bet would be to go with da golden eagle ls v tech conversion kit. its really nice. it has da oil line which runs from ur oil filter in sted of taping da block, and head da head gasket, da dow pins for da block and all da fitting. i also suggest going with arp or aebs head studs. ohh and make sure u use ur knock sensor if u can.

Piece it right the first time, or don't piece at all.
If not pieced right, you will run into head leaks, etc.
If pieced right, you will have a fun car.
Don't be afraid to use expensive stuff.
