Default ls/vtec power

I was just wondering. I've beeen asking around and I want to know about how much hp can I expect just by slapping a b16a cylinder head onto my b18b block? I know ls/vtec entails more than just that namly building up the bottom end. Also what is the safe revving with the stock b18b bottom end the red line is at 7k but i ve heard thats just the valvetrain, but the bottom end can take 8000

here is a site you can check out some dyno sheets from LS/VTEC http://www.importreview.com/d_1.8.html

the best thing for the bottom end is to get some aftermarket rods, put some CTR or PR3 pistons in. if you really want to get serious, get a block girdle for it.

if you use a B16a head, just upgrade the valve train to ITR and you'll be fine there.

i rev to 8k occassionally...... i'm not sure if itz good for the Block... cuz the normal reline is 7k... but if u dont do it constantly then i belive itz fine.... but i recommend gettin aftermarket rods... and a block girdle ... jus so u can rev safely..

I have an ls/vtec that was in my car w/ stock b16a head w/ ITR cams, stock b18b1 bottom end and the general bolt-ons. My '94 hatch ran a best of 13.4@104. Made 166whp and 127wtq. It ran great -had no problems at all in the year of street and road course driving that I did with it. Revved to 8000 beautifully. Only took it out to put in a built b20/vtec.
