Default ls/vtec need opinions

I am planning to go with this set up. Please tell me how reliable relative to the power/torgue gain. thanks
Head:
Complete b16a head from an obd0 with type R cam
Block:
Oversized JDM type r pistons (cr 12:1)
LS rods shotpeened and magnafluxed
micropolished and balanced crank
Trans:
95 gsr tranny

BTW. What ecu would be best for this setup?

this is just my opinion but i would spend the money to get some after market rods

and get a chipped ecu

I am a n00b here, but what is a OBD0 Type R cam exactly, and where can I get one for a straight LS?

I think I agree with the last post. Spend the money for some rods, and turbo it.

You dont want to Turbo a LSVTEC if it is a daily driver, it has High Enough compression as it is already...
