Refresh my memory...what is a det. sensor?
The irratic revs could be attributed to the Idle Air Control Valve...it is located on the back of the manifold. Do you have access to another one that you could put on and see if that is your problem?
BTW, a simple "ttt" or "bump" would have worked.

Re: ls/vtec (Jeff C)
Thanks for the response. I mean detonation sensor, or knock sensor. WE have an extra IACV that we are going to try, I thought someone might know of something else it might be. I noticed you live in TN. Where is Dandrige?

Re: ls/vtec (NismoNX)
Ok does anyone know what to do with the wire for the knock sensor. The car is a 94 coupe ex and we have put in an ls block with a b16 head. The ecu has the wire for the knock sensor and the block doesn't have one. We have been told that the Vtec won't work until the knock sensor wire is right so please if any of you know what we can do please let me know. We don't want to drill and tap the block to put in the knock sensor.

C-SpeedRacing
About 3/4 down the 1st page (3rd pic from bottom) they show where they mounted their knock sensor.
