Default ls or gsr?

my brother is swaping in an engine that came from a 93 integra and the stamp on the block reads b18c but it has a not vtec head on it. I though that b18c's where gsr's and this one was on an ls so what does that mean please help me out.

sorry if i confused anyone can't find another way to explain my question

there is no such thing as a b18c LS motor.
it was probably restamped.

It would be restamped when its Stolen, they try to change the #'s on the block or maybe the seller was tryin to sell an LS motor and pass it off as a GSR. Are you sure its not vtec? Is the vtec solenoid there? Maybe they just changed the valve cover and thats why it doesn't say vtec on it.

Or maybe they took the GSR head for an LS/vtec swap and slapped a non vtec head on it and sold the motor. Its hard to determine without more info. Was it bought from a friend or just some random person?

i'll double check about the vtec. this is my brother's swap and he is doing all the work himself but I just needed some info cuz I he should have check for the vtec selenoid but maybe he just missed it thanks for ur help

what else would be helpful in trying to see if the block is legit or if it has actually been restamped you you guys said?

it was bought from a friend of my brothers but he has not asked him anything regarding it being a ls or gsr
he bought the whole car and he is swaping out the motor i'll get some pictures and maybe you guys can come up with something.

If the block is restamped and its possibly stolen, the motor can be a combo of stolen pieces that they guy had laying around. "Kamin" I don't know whether your reply was meant for me but I don't understand why u wouldn't think that if the motor is not legit that its possible that the seller of the motor would do it. If it's not legit I don't think the seller would give a Fu$k and just slap some pieces together.

It is possible that someone bought the car for 'point-A-to-point-B' transportation and didn't care about the motor. Maybe they cracked the head at one point. And after being presented with the repair bill, the person fixing the car said they could do it cheaper if they just used an LS head instead.

You might also want to check numbers around the block. If it has 'PR4' in several locations, it is an LS block. If it has 'P72', it is a GSR block. These numbers are harder to change than the actual stamping since they actually stick out.
