Knock sensor/Safeguard
i swapped in an itr motor into my 88 crx si. everything is running smooth and no complaints.
the crx harness doesnt have a knock sensor plug for the sensor on the back of my motor--nothing is on the sensor at all. what do i do? i'm running all motor and dont hear any knocking but is this wise? what should i put on the sensor? im running hondata and have it tuned a little rich to be safe. should i get a safeguard?

if im reading this correctly, you have to run a wire from the pinout on the ecu to the knock sensor, or don't worry about it. If you have a CEL that you dont want just get the ecu chipped so it won't look for it

what do you mean by "CEL"

CEL = Check engine light
and as for the knock sensor, a mostly stock engine you wont have to worry about it knocking as long as you are using premium fuel. a replacment knock sensor isnt cheap and most times isnt necessary.
the best advice i can give you is this, if your knock sensor goes off, that means the engine has already pre-ignited or detonated. the damage could have already occured. the best safeguard against this is good tuning.

Re: Knock sensor/Safeguard (b18crx)
i thought that when the CEL goes off for knock sensor that means its broken and needs to be replaced.
sorry to jack the thread but i got a 95 gsr swap in my si wired up the knock sensor and everything code 23 still comes out. checked for continutiy and wiring and everything ok but light still comes on. i thought that the knock sensor sends a signal to the ecu to tell if its knocking, which is ok it happens minutely sometimes, and when it does knock the ecu in turn retards the timing. and if the sensor is broken then the CEL comes on notifying you that it is no longer working properly and isnt sending a signal to the ecu. thats why there is one wire going to the ecu and one wire to groung its only a signal output device. correct me if im wrong cuz im trying to figure out why i cant get rid of CEL 23. and it doesnt sound like my motors knock and its pretty much stock. hope your advice helps me and others, im confused.
