Default Knock sensor LS-VTEC (searched)

I 've searched and many of the topics covering this arent really clear or specific.

what I'm trying to find out is that is how and where would the knock sensor go on a B18 block and is it necessary? also what ecu is most commonly used on an LSVTEC swap

there is no spot for the knock on the ls motor. you can drill and tap but to me not worth it. I would just use a P28 and use a good chip program or go hondata and custom tune for the motor.

I welded a nut onto the upper alternator bracket bolt (the one that threads into a casting that is very similar to the knock sensor casting on the vtec blocks) and am going to use that sensor location w/ a J&S Safeguard. Here is a photo from c-speedracing.com:
They recommend you retap the threads, but I think welding a nut on is a better option. Mr. Safeguard himself recommended the weld-on method, for what it's worth.

It's been debated quite a bit, but if you're just thinking about running a stock knock board you might want to skip it altogether.
