knock sensor years?
"All B-series VTEC ECUs will require you to use a knock sensor. Unless yours was reprogrammed to not look for one, one will have to be retrofitted into the block since there aren't any provisions for one on the LS. Some non-VTEC engines have a blank spot on the rear of the block where the threaded hole would normally be drilled on a VTEC model."
Read that on some article sportscompactcarweb.com
I thought a knock sensor was only on the ODB-II cars...isn't it? And if it wasn't, what year did they add the knock sensor?

The 88-91 b16 has knock sensor - ECU PR3, PW0
92-95 didn't have knock sensors. The P28
96-on have knock sensors.
You can chip P28 and it will never look for a knock sensor as it is hardwired not too.
This is what I have found out, may be more.

Yes, they did.
All DOHC VTEC B-series engines were equipped with a knock sensor from the factory, starting with the 1st-gen JDM B16A in 1989.

Yes, they did. The P28 is a D-series ECU. The B-series P72 and P30 look for knock sensors.
