Default k24z2?

well i got a really good deal on a k series long block and a seperate short block. the long block is a k24z2 out of an 08 or newer accord..... i know it isn't the ideal motor because it red lines at 6800rpm. however it puts down 177hp and 168 foot pounds of torque.. they also have a obnoxious exhaust port casted into the head ... would it be stupid to swap this motor into my 92 civic hatchback? is the bottom end at least good? can i put a better head on it? any help is a ppreciated

Yes. Yes it would. Try a K20Z3.

try to sell and get something that is easier to star with, like a k24a1. they are somewhat cheap. i found a long block for 400 at a local junkyard. and whatever head/tranny you want will bolt up no pronlems
