when the price comes down
right now its a show piece.
anyone that spends 8000+ on that swap right now deserves a kick to the head.

kamin, we've gone through this before
passwordjdm, 5400 or 5700
hmotors sells them for around 6500
thats not 8000+

I dunno why u are so anti k20, yes its expensive, no its not 8000+1500 for subframe+900 for mount kit+1300 to make it work+1500 for other ****

6000 for swap, 500 for mountkit into ek
50 bux for a half shaft, 100 bux for axles, 10 bux for spark plugs, 20 bux for oil and filter... and your good to go
thats under 7g for a 220 hp motor thats alot better then a dc2-r that has alot more potential
if u want a dc2-r, thats about 2-3g less

best bang for the buck... dc2-r... take the 2-3g's...and build...
most potential, dc5-R...
just something new and exciting... with more possibilites and higher hp down the line.

For someone that is intrested in being ahead of the game, just like someone who buys a new computer the day it comes out so they can say they have the latest and greatest, the same concept will apply.

the mount kit for a k series into EK is 1500. Brian at hasport told me this a couple weeks ago.

im sorry if im comming off as anti K20, its a kickass motor that is going to scare me in a year or so when they start getting really fast and tapping the potential of the engine, but its EXPENSIVE for what you get right now.

6500 for swap
1500 for mounts
300 for shipping
200 for misc
thats 8500$

this is the transcript from the last time you told me the same thing

lol if u dont know anything about it, why are u making up numbers...
im not sayin its cheap, but ****... neither is a dc2-R motor
7g for a dc5-R + the 1500
thats 8500 if ur doing it yourself
now take a type R
5000 for the motor
1000 to make it work
for 2500 extra dollars, you have a brand new motor with far less miles and a motor with more hp and more potenial.
If it was me, in my humble opinion, id want to do what not a bunch of people have already done... thats if I had the money to do it.
But honestly kamin, u cant knock the idea if the guy has the cash to play around.
and if ur spending 6g, 8500 isnt that much more for what you are getting... once again in my humble opinion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

im not making up numbers.
6500$ for the k20 engine tranny and ecu
1500$ for the bolt in kit
500$ in misc ****.
thats 8500$
with labor you are at 10,000.

who spends 6000 on an ITR swap?
4300$ for a FULL swap and its up and running with minimal effort and extra money. WORST CASE! your at 6000$ with install. and thats with a shop that overcharges.
but then your gonna need to install the K. thats 10,000$ again.

and the k20 may have less miles but its not new.
its just money that could be better spent elsewhere.

screw the K20a motor... its that super sweet 6spd tranny with LSD!!!!

i am trying to off the motor alone if i can so i can keep that tranny and pair it up with a built K24 and find a vette to spank from corner to corner.

that only means i must buy a civic and keep it in sleeper mode!

And how much were C5's when they first became available? 4 years ago that swap was just as expensive.

anyone know how to wire that thing up? in the area51 ek i saw a whole bunch of messy wires hooked up to the ecu. also would the shifter be in the same location in the center console because in the pictures i saw the center console wasn't in. Is this an OBD-III engine, i wonder if you can convert to OBD-I so that it can go into 92-95 hatches without having to wire it up.
just some questions i thought of...

There are a few other problems besides price at work here. K-motors are not as easy to drop into pre-2001 Civics as B-motors or H-motors. And let's face it. 2001+ Civics and RSXs will NEVER be liked as much as older Hondas by the enthusiast crowd. So unless someone comes up with a way to simplify K-swaps into older Hondas, NOBODY will use them. Then there is the issue of aftermarket support. You just can't beat the aftermarket support of the B-motors. Even H-motors have better support than K-motors (and likely will for some time). Finally, there is the technology itself. Now you might have heard about areas in which K-motors are better than B-motors. But let's face it, the transition from B to K did not involve some kind of quantum leap in technology. It's not like we are comparing pushrods to VTEC here. You can do ANYTHING with a B-motor that you potentially could with a K-motor. And K-motors don't offer the torque and displacement of H-motors.

Yep, and when that happens the EP civic's & RSX integra's will replace the current civic & integra's on the top ten cars being stolen.
