Re: jdm B18C type R, bogs at low RPM (BanEL)
I have a JDM Type r swap in my 1990 CRX, OBD2a as well. Bogging same as you from 2400-3500 rpm at light or partial throttle. I replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter and it helped a bit, but not that much. However, I had a feeling it was fuel related. So I put a fuel pressure gauge on my car and found that my fuel pressure was low (measured at idle). Stock ITR fuel pressure should be 47-54 psi (vacuum hose disconnected) or 38-46 psi with vacuum connected. My car was 38psi with vacuum connected. This on the very low end of where it should be. I then purchased an AEM FPR and installed it, crank the fuel pressure to 54 psi (vacuum disconnected) and the car runs excellent. Fuel pressure gauge now reads 45psi with vacuum line connected. No more bogging at any RPM, WOT or not. Power is much smoother now and stronger. This was all with OEM Crx fuel pump. I just replaced my fuel pump with a Walbro 190 lph (for my peace of mind) to ensure the engine is getting enough fuel at high rpms. Lengthy response, but this fixed my problem so hope it fixes yours.
