Default Info on b-series swap

To do a b-series swap on a 1996 civic coupe EX, do i need any wire cutting or is it all plug and play?? I am getting a 2000 b16a2 with engine harness etc. I been told thet i need to pin wires in the dashboard but i would think thats for non- VTEc cars. Thanks

I did a 95 b16 into a 97 so i may be off a little

i think the only stuff your going to need to wire up is a knock sensor and the vtec selinoid. I know I had to rewire my dizzy and alternator wires but i think since your staying all OBD2 stuff you wont have those problems.

3 wires total I believe.

yeah but it would be a good idea to hang out until someone aelse chimes in either to confirm or deny my ideas. its been a long time since i did my swap and i'm not sure I remember everything correctly. There alot more people here who deal with this stuff on a daily basis.

I just reread your original post and i dont know how i did but i missed you said it was going into an EX there for it should already be wired for VTEC i'm not sure if the SOHC cars had a knock sensor. if not i think that might be the only thing to wire in.

if your gonna use ur ex harness you will only need to lengthen a few wires. if u use the si harness it would be a plug in deal accept there is an extra wire in the harness side of the distributor plug that is useless and you can remove.
