If the H22 is so monsterous in a Civic...
I don't get this...If the H22 is so monsterous in a Civic then why do more dragracers prefer the b-series engines in their Civics? (excluding Stephan Papadakis)

i guess more stable , reliable but if i had the chance of doing this again i would swap a h22 instead of b series .... but suspension and correct tuning of the vehicle would come out better then b series ...

I think its because the b-series is so well supported. we are only now seeing more support for the h-series as well as others.

According to Honda Tuner, the cylinder sleeves are better supported on B-motors. For this reason, B-motors can take more boost. This may seem strange due to the fact that the H-motor have closed decks. But apparently once the deck is closed on a B-motor, B-motors are stronger.

Mainly the reason they go B series is because the cars they use are pro-stock and B series -- being the motor that bolts up mostly into the cars at which they race, also, overall weight being a major factor.
Aftermarket support is a MAJOR role in this as well.
Why don't they go H22?
No clue, when drag racing, and the H22 having the same technology as the B series VTEC motors, just with more displacement. And when you are drag racing, displacement is critical for the 1/4 time at which puts out.
There are more and more drag racers switching over to the H22.
However, alot of them are also browsing over to the K series motors now with the i-VTEC system (having VTC and VTEC working together) and producing big time HP numbers.
Cam timing is very critical, and switching cam profiles (vtec) is also critical with cam lift/duration -- why not have both on the fly while you're drag racing?
point made across.
