i need help!!!!!
First of all I am new here so I would like to say was up!!!
Second I have a JDM B16A in my 95 EX.
How can you tell the difference between a gen 1 and gen 2 B16A.
I know you can tell one way by the grey connectors but what if the head was changed on the block. The head stamp is from a 95. The block says B16A. The tranny says YS1. I need some help because I paid the shop for a gen 2 and I don't wanna get fukked.......

Re: i need help!!!!! (95hyrbidex)
I'll try to get some pics, but check it out this is the case:
My tranny code is YS1
My engines serial # starts with a 1 and not a 5
My head has the grey connectors
I need some help so that if I paid for a second gen i should get a second gen.
I know the guys at this shop said they had to do something to the tranny, and that it was cable driven so i assume they converted it to hydraulic......????
WTF

I'm not sure but the second generation B16 should say B16A2 on the block.
If it starts with a 1 then you might have got 1st gen B16 with a 2nd gen head. Also they put a cable tranny in your car? That's not right you should have got a hydro with your swap. Go back and see what's up.
Where did you have this done??

this is what i think they did a fabricated conversion on the tranny. If it is a hydraulic tranny then the code should say YS21 right?? Also the code on my engine is a B16A. If this was a second gen the engine should drop right in with out any mounts right?? I have a mount on the back of the engine I guess for the tranny. I already hit the shop up and the guy is telling " no man look all second gens have grey connectors"
I just checked out this mag from Sports Compact and they had an issue on engine swaps. The article says that if the serial # starts with a 1 then it came from a 1st gen and if it starts with a 5 then it came from a second gen. Since this is the case should I seek the Better Business Bureau or should I just go and tell him to give me the engine I paid for and he can avoid the *** kicking that I am gonna give him. I paid like $3k for the swap and all. I do give them props because it was a clean swap but it wasn't what I paid for.

It was done in El Paso, TX. At Speed Factory Racing.... they also deal with another shop that's in Austin or somewhere around there. I think the shops name is Protech..... if anyone is around here don't go to these shops they are a rip off. I know some guys just recently had some work done and they take forever with your car and not only that everything bad like this has gotten around to me just recently so that's why I decided to check into my car. Now that's why I think I was done in wrong.
