I personally couldn't think of anything more irritating than an auto b18c. Do yourself a huge favor and find a 5-spd. An auto will make it really difficult to exploit the high-rpm powerband.

I beleive i once read that it was about 10hp compared to manual, but has more torque down low. This was a B16a, but i imagine cam differences would net about the same hp drop in the B18c.

Actually I was joking... didn't think you all found that so funny though.... here's an excerpt from the article found on Temple of Vtec Asia
The B18C displaces 1797cc, using the same bore as the B16A with an extended stroke. The DOHC VTEC valve train gave the manual version 180ps max power at 7600rpm with max torque of 17.8kgm at 6200rpm. Red-line is at 8000rpm. The automatic version generates a relatively high max power of 170ps at 7200rpm, only 10ps down from the manual. Max torque for the auto is the same 17.8kgm but at a lower 6000rpm. Redline for the auto is around 7600rpm.

What sucks is most of the b16a's are autos and you end up with the auto ECU. Vtec at 4500 and fuel cut at 7500.

Re: hp difference in auto and 5-speed??? (FUCATYPR)
So the only difference between the Auto and Manual B18C are the cams? So if i were to change the cams out for some ITR's, it should perform just as well if not better than a 5 speed B18C...right? Of course, i am only talking about the differnce in engine, nothing else like ECU etc.
