How to tell difference between obd1 and obd2 ecu
So, how do you tell the difference by looking at a GSR ecu if it is OBD1 or OBD2A? If I posted a picture would you be able to tell? I got the GSR ecu from a seller with a lot of vouches. Just curious to know though. Thanks in advance.

obd2a - http://www.b18c5eg.com/obd2a.jpg
basically three rows of pins = OBD2

you are doubting the writing on the ECU?
P72 OBD2 GSR
but I'm seeing OBD2b configuration not OBD2a. (I'm an OBD1 person so take that guess as just that, a guess)
either way, for sure not OBD1.
if you'd like to know for sure what it's out of, what are the three digits after the P72 on the sticker on the side of it? I can tell you what it's out of specifically if it's USDM.
**edit**
pretty easy ECU to track down...
P72-335 - 97 OBD2a
P72-a01 - 94/95 OBD1
P72-a02 - 96 OBD2a
P72-a03 - 97 OBD2a
P72-a04 - 98/99 OBD2a *(edited due to EE_Chris's post below)
P72-a05 - 00/01 OBD2b

Re: (Relic1)
This is no good then. I thought OBD2A was 96-99. This according to the list you have is obd2b 98-99. I have a 2001 gsr going into a 96 civic ex. Although im getting the 2001 GSR ecu with it, I was told to get a OBD2A ecu.
What should I do?

Re: (10seconds)
Integra's OBD2b started a year after Civic's did, FYI.
You do want an OBD2a Integra ECU for two reasons: 1) It plugs directly into your stock harness and 2) OBD2b Integra ECUs have an immobilizer and unless you feel like getting the complete ignition key and setup, removing it only leaves a CEL on and you failing emissions (if that's a concern for you).

ee_Chris - you are right. the P72-a04 - 98/99 is OBD2a not OBD2b.
I always forget the cut off dates... (edited the list for future searchers)
10seconds - stick with OBD2a, easier to deal with of the two OBD2 versions. At least IMO.

Re: (Relic1)
Ok, good. So the ECU I have is going to work out just fine. Mine is A04, whis is 98-99 OBD2A, correct?
When we get this in and running right it should pass emissions without any problems right? Thanks for any and all the help.
