Default hot tank?

yeah i can hot tank my bottom block rite? i know i can but this shop wer i mite go 2 get my engine rebuild say i cant do it & my block will melt

You can hot tank your block but you must strip it bare... which kinda sucks. You'll end up having to buy all new seals.

Some shops only have cleaning equipment (solution) to do cast iron.The cleaner that they use will turn aluminum black.Most of the newer solvents will work on aluminum and iron.

I just had my engine re-worked and it was hot tanked. Lucky me, it didn't melt

the term hot tank is just a generic term, actual "hot tanking" melts aluminum like mentioned above

hot tanking is an excellent procedure and highly recommended with a rebuild... don't go to that stupid mechanic anymore...

My machinist called it jet-washing .. hot-tanking uses acids that would eat away at aluminum.
