HELP!! v-tec doesn't work and Speedometer is dead!!
Help anyone I have a 97 civic dx and i did a 96 b18c1 sawp on it. It was working alright but lately my speedometer went dead and it wouldn't move even if im driving..... another thing is that my v tec was kicking in at 5000 rpm but right now its not even kicking in. The other day i was driving and noticed my speedometer working and tried taking it to the higher rpm and my v tec acutally kicked. Anyone know the answer to my question??? Could there be a loose plug or wire? If so what would it be and where would it be?
Thanks

if the odo dont work the vtec wont work . fix the odo and thevtec will work again. make sure the plug to the trans is in good. three wires ,back of trans near rear mount . that is your pulse generator for your speedo

Also make sure the green connector of the interior harness is hooked up. The one down by the ecu.

Re: (97mini-me)
your problem 99.9% is the vehicle speed sensor. its on the back of the transmission, kinda under the throttle body. the plug for it has 3 wires and it bolts into the trans with 1 - 10mm bolt on the far side of the sensor. see if it came out first. if not try cleaning the connections in the plug. be careful when you tighten it, it only gets like 10 ft/lbs and will break if overtorqued( trust me ive done it before)
