help with sohc vtec swap in 95 dx

just got a 94 si motor in a 95 dx and it started fine but it idles way too high then it stards to go from about 2000 rpm to 500 then back up to 2000 and keeps doing this ??? what do i do ??? also when the car revs the speedometer moves up like a tack let me remind you this is a dx so there is no tack on the cluster what dose this mean ??? can i plug in a 95 ex cluster to the 94 dx and will the tack workfrom the ex ??? By the way my 95 ls coupe just smoked a 2002 ss impala see yah
