civic swap..... need some info ........
Hey guys ...
I currently own a 94 honda civic ex ( automatic ) and i want to change out my transmission to 5-speed. Laying around i have a d15b6 tranny with ecu and engine and its just sitting there.. i took it off a 95 honda civic dx i beleive...
before i completely stripped the car barebone , i ran it up against my 94 ex..... i got creamed literally.... i figured because it was automatic.....
days later my friend with the same exact car but 5-speed lines up with the 95 dx and on take off gets creamed and the 94ex that my friend was running up against the 95 dx lost by a 3 1/2 car lead..... so that is the reason i got this car. i dont know what has been done to this engine but i know i want it in my 94 civic ex thats automatic. can anyone help me.?. im serious about this........
Thank You.

Re: (liznadrian)
If the question is one of swapability, you'll need to get a manual transmission mount along with the appropriate pedal set (clutch and brake). Obviously this necessitates a clutch master cylinder and the complete removal of the automatic transmission shift-lever and supporting hardware.
There are write-ups in here about doing this very thing - good ones at that - and I think if you take the time to search a little bit you'll find everything you need to know. All in all, it's not that difficult, just awkward to wedge your body in there and time consuming if its your first time (kinda like sex =p)

My Heather's so smart
You'll need a manual ECU if you want the swap to work without throwing codes, and you might want to look into a cam, as the automatic version might have significantly less lift and duration (on some of the engine families this is the case...not sure about the Z6).
Good luck and SEARCH! SEARCH! SEARCH!
