Default HELP ME!!! Timing Problem!!!! B18C swap in 98 Civic EX

Again, I'm having the worst luck with this motor swap. I have the obd1 B18c 5speed. I've got it in my obd2 civic ex. I've got everything done and all the fluids are in. When I go to start it all it does is backfire. It seems to be a timing problem. I set it to TDC and tried again. And now it doesn't even want to turn over. Please someone help me. This motor swap has gone on too long...it's going on three weeks.

I've got it back to where it will turn over...but it still back fires. What could be the problem? The crankshaft pulley is at TDC on the compression stroke, dizzy rotor is on plug #1, and Cam gears are pointing up. We have taken the dizzy out before starting the motor. But it only goes in one way. Cause we tried to put it in a different way and it wouldn't fit. HELP!!

It backfires while turning over? I'm going to say that you need to focus on the distributor itself. You don't have a friends you can pop in there do you? If not get out the Helms and start weeding out possible causes.

are you sure your getting spark at each spark plug. you could take each plug out and ground the plug and crank it to see if you have spark at each wire and plug. make sure you pull the fuel pump fuse small blue 15 amp fuse.
