i'm doing an lsvtec and when i started it up for the first time it ran good, but then it started smoking from inside the block and it didnt want to run. i took off the oil pan and it looks like the bottoms of the pistoms were hitting the crank. is this possible? i used pr3 pistons and the ls rods. did i miss any modifications to the pistons before assembling the motor? if any one can help i would appreciate it.

heh yes thank u, i guess this has not happened to anyone before. oh well i'll see what i can figure out. then if it happens to anyone else i can help em.

the edge of the crank has rubbing marks on it. and i am going to pull the pistons today to see if there is any damage.

 

the only mod you need to do to the ls rods that i am aware of is to machine 1mm off of them in order for them to fit the pr3 pistons properly. i'm building an ls/vtec as well w/pr3 pistons, so i'm interested as to what your problem is... keep this thread updated
