Heavy Load from AC: Ideas?
Hi,
Finishing up a K20 conversion in a Fiat X1/9. Car runs great and has enough power to be fun, in part thanks to members of this board who have answered questions.
One of the last things I have to tackle is the matter of why the AC loads the engine, seemingly excessively. Ideas as to why? Compressor is high mounted, above the IM. I am unable to know how much oil I have in the system or how much it should take; Fiat originally used a dipstick for its compressors and I definitely don't have that anymore. My uneducated guess is that I have too much oil in the system.
K20A2 engine with c. 1998 Nissan Sentra compressor (Calsonic.)
I realize that this is a mixed bag of parts, but any AC conversion BTDT/WTF out there?
