Default H22A4 EG Axle Hybrid

Okay this I realize is covered every freaking week. I know cuz I've had this problem for about two weeks and have covered just about all posts covering this. Here's my problem I have a 94 EG hatchie with a H22A4 swap. Common enough. I recently swapped the old POS H23 tranny for a JDM H22 tranny. Pain in the *** but was successful. Here's my dilemna, just like probably every one who can't really afford custom race axles, I have the reoccuring problem with my right side axle popping out of the tranny. I have been told constantly to run the 90-93 axle and if needed extend the C Clip. I tried that and failed due to not being able to extend it. I was then told to use the 94-00 Integra Axle. Same size as the 90-93. Too cut this down, I took the 90-93 axle to the local autozone and measured it against a 90-91 Accord Axle, 95 Integra Axle, 97 Integra GSR axle, and a 92 Prelude Axle. Of course the prelude axle had the extra length that I needed but of course too much length. So I bought it. Fit very snugly into tranny. I knew from the start it'd be too long. So here's what I'm planning on doing taking my 93 Integra Axle and the 92 Prelude axle and combining them. I'm going to take the part of the axle that goes into the tranny from the 92 prelude axle and mate it to the Integra Axle. Of course taking the one on the Teggy axle off to make room for the new prelude part. This has been a very stressful dilemna for me. I figured I'd tell the story the whole story to fellow H-T'ers to cover all bases and leave room for input. Here are my questions.

1. Will I be able to combine the two axles as stated???
2. I was told it'd work if the bearings inside the axles are the same between the two, are they???
3. I was told how to do it but is there anything extra I should know too make this frankenstein hybrid go smoothly???
4. Should I just take it to a shop and have them do it???

Sorry for the long story, I have been told so many different things and have read so many different posts that I just want to get this done and over with this time. I swear I have put the axle in and then ripped out again so many times in the last two weeks. I'm basically a pro. I was able to do it this last time in 15 minutes.

So are you going to go with a prelude midshaft,90-93 teg axles with a prelude inner on the driverside axle?

The drivers side isn't the problem it's the passenger side. I am running on the drivers side the 90-93 Integra axle with the 90-91 Accord Intermediate Shaft. On the passenger side, I am going to run the 90-93 Integra Axle with the 92 Prelude inner CV joint( the assembly that goes into the tranny on the axle, I believe thats what it's called)

Okay, I have an interesting question. I have a 94 Coupe EX w/ and H22 swap, and I went to buy new axles for it a few days ago. I went to NAPA and bought a driver side 90-93 integra axle for my car, and the spline end of the axle didn't fit into my Civic hub. It was too big. Now, maybe the guy gave me one for an ABS model or something, or maybe it was just a bad remanufacturer, but has anyone run into this problem?

The EX is the bigger hub so I don't see how this would have happened unless they gave you the wrong axle. The ABS just have a ABS ring (same spline).

Yeah, I guess it was just a improperly manufactured axle.

yeah it was probably for a 4 * 114 bolt lug configuration. Also by swapping the prelude H22 inner CV joint onto the 90-93 Integra Axle it fixed by problem today. THANKFULLY YES ITS DONE AND IS A ******* MONSTER OF A MOTOR.

i'm having this problem....

h22a4 in a 92vx hasport mounts. prelude intermediate, 90-93 teg axles
driver side is fine, but my passengerside has some slack in it....won't click in

i was told to do the same thing your talking about doing...just put a prelude inner on the teg axle.

i'll probably be doing this in the next week or so....i'll post up how it goes.

is that going to be any better then a 90-93teg axle with a prelude inner on it?

That's the only axle I have ever ran, no issues at all. (86-89teg)

Couple other guys run the same axles.

</TD></TR></TABLE>no it wont solve your problem, it might for a little while but eventually pop out. Your solution is very simple and inexpensive. You need an 88-89 teg axle with the prelude inner joint.

Well, I may just hafta convert from my accord int. shaft and 90-93 axles, to a lude int. shaft and 86-89 axles. That's what you guys are saying is the best setup, right?

And how bout this? I called NAPA to order a driver side axle (90-93 Integra), and he asks me:

1) For a 1.8? Do I get the 1.8 axle?
2) W/ or w/o ABS?

Im not sure if the 1.8 axle is different from the other 90-93 integra axles, but like I said, the spline wouldn't fit my 94 Civic EX wheel hub inlet. I don't have ABS, and I don't think that it would effect the spline issue anyways. So basically, do I need a 1.8 axle, or whatever the other axle is?

yeah it's the 1.8 twin cam non vtec motor. The only other motor is the 1.7 gsr motor but that still has the same axles anyway.

If you have ABS on your car tell him "yes" to the ABS also. The ABS axles just have a little ring with teeth around the axle for the abs sensor to count. No difference in spline size like you said.

that is what you need to do. i have had a hybrid axle in my car for a long time. i found out on my own. i used 90-93 teg axels. on the drivers side i used the accord jackshaft. the pass side i used a accord inner tulip joint aND ADDED it to the teg shaft. i had to buy 3 axels.

i have many hard launches and is fine.
