Default H22A distributor wizards, what cap do I use?

The engine is (apparently) a '93 JDM H22A. Naturally, the distributor and rotor are worn and need to be replaced. However, this engine (and all JDM H22A's as I am told) uses an internal coil distributor, whereas the USDM motor uses external coil.

Unless the coil is busted, I see no reason to go boneyard diving or spend $250 on an MSD CDI system. What cap can I use?

I already bought a '96 Integra GSR cap but the screw holes must be re-drilled for the cap to screw down. It looks as though it seal properly, but this kind of kludge is exactly what I am trying to avoid living with. Help...

You can use any 92-95 Civic cap and that'll work. I believe Newman and Jason KiDD have done that.

When my car ran for a few days then wouldnt start up, we ended replacing the coil and the modular the thing where the three sensors plug up to inside the distributer all from my d16y7. Then she started right up.

grumble grumble...

The coil is mega $$ (140 if I remember right). If it dies, say hello MSD.

I'll be off work soon. Go check out some Civic caps if the parts place has 'em. Thanks for the quick response guys.

I used a GSR cap on mine. My buddy had an extra one in his garage, and mine was busted.

Correct-o-mundo! In fact, any 92-95 Civic and even Integra distributor caps are the same... rotors too. Both work on the JDM H22A OBD-1 distributor perfectly. As for the internals of a JDM H22A OBD-1 distributor (w/internal coil), it's exactly the same the 92-95 Civics (ignitor, coil, bearings, gears, etc) so if your OBD-1 H22 distributor goes out, you can use the stock parts off of your old Civic distributor.

Should it be an SI or EX dizzy, or can you still use a DX one? Interesting, I didn't know that...

I am, sadly, working full time right now , so work on The Project comes in short spurts. I'll have the motor in this weekend , but the wiring might take a few more days, then the axles go in...

The Civic cap looks identical, so that should work ok.

Now to finish re-wiring the entire car, putting the interior back together, swapping out the suspension......
