H22 swap distributor issues..NEED HELP RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!
I have a 97 Accord EX (OBD II) and I bought a 96 engine swap (OBD I) for it. There is an issue with the distributor. The one on the H22 has two plugs and the one off my Accord has one plug...therefore, it won't fit. Can I wire the Accord harness to the two plugs on the H22 distributor? If so, how? Should I buy another distributor? I need to know as soon as possible guys. No offense, but I need knowledgeable, experienced answers for this one? Thanks

ok.. first.. if u bought a 96 engine (h22a im assuming) then it should still be obd2. if im right, 96 was the first obd2 for the preludes.
what ecu are u using? obd2 p13 or obd1 p13?
if u have a manual, helms or something. it will give u the color codes for the wires.. i can find it for u later if need be. but i would suggest using the distributor that came on the engine and wire it straight to the ecu.

Re: H22 swap distributor issues..NEED HELP RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!! % te9) (hondaZvic)
The engine that I have is a JDM engine. I said that it was a 96 because I was told it was a 96. It is OBD I so I am using an OBD I P13 ECU. I do not have a Helms manual for either car so I don't know the color codes. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what they were. Thanks for the help.

96 is OBDII.
How many O2 sensors do you have?
You will definitely have to re-wire up/move pin-outs for the injector wiring as well as the distributor going from OBD2 to OBD1.
For pain in the ***'s sake, i'd stick with OBD2, that way the harnesses will just clip right in.

Re: H22 swap distributor issues..NEED HELP RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!! % te9) (poison)
FACTS:
1. I have an OBD I engine (year not relevant right now)
2. I have an OBD I ECU
3. I have distributor problems...not ECU problems
a. There is one clip from the distributor on my 97 Accord
b. There are two clips from the distributor from the H22A (the actually print on the engine is H22A)
Now, going back to my original problem. What do I do about the different distributors? Will I have o buy another one? Can the Accord harness and H22 distributor be wired up.

to answer ur question. the accord wire harness and the distributor(the one that came on the engine) need to be wired together.
i have a couple questions for u:
1. now. the clips on ur distributor, u say there are 2. one clip should have 2 wires(1 blue and 1 blk and yellow) and the other should have either 6 or 8. which is it?
2. since u are using ur 97 accord wire harness. are u gonna wire that harness straight to the obd1 ecu? or do u have an obd2 --> obd1 conversion harness?

Yes, on the H22A, one plug has one blue wire and one black/orange. The other plug has 7 wires on it.
On the Accord, the plug has 5 wires.
I have a OBD conversion harness.

okay... well i know rite off hand the blu wire on the distributor goes to the blu wire on the harness and there should be a blk/yel wire on the harness, take that one to the blk/orn wire on the dist.
blu = tachometer (does not run to ecu)
blk/yel or blk/orn = power. (does not run to ecu)
i will get the rest of the pinouts and color codes for u pretty soon. i have to go to my garage and get my boooks. what is ur email? i will send them to u.

Thanks for the help man. It's nice to speak to some people who know what they are doing. Again, my email address is dominate9@hotmail or you can just post it. It's up to you. Thanks again

ok man.. since u have the obd conversion harness. im assuming u are going to wire ur 97 accord harness to OBD2 PRELUDE SPECS then use the conversion harness to plug the OBD1 P13 ECU to the OBD2 HARNESS.
(thats how i did mine, and it works great)
oh u sed ur engine is 96 and obd1. 96 is obd2 so ill just give u obd1 and obd2 pinouts and u can pick.
97-01 prelude obd2 distributor pinouts:
1.grn (TDCP) = ecu-C3 (crankshaft position/top center sensor)
2.red (TDCM) = ecu-C13 (ckp/tdc sensor)
3.blu (CKPP) = ecu-C2 (ckp/tdc sensor)
4.wht (CKPM) = ecu-C12 (ckp/tdc sensor)
5.yel (CYPP) = ecu-C4 (cylinder position sensor,cyp)
6.blk (CYPM) = ecu-C14 (cyp sensor)
7.yel/grn (ICM) = ecu-A20 (ignition control module)
1.blk/yel = batter power/ignition switch
2.blu (on 2wire clip) is for the tachometer.
there is a 7 wire clip for u and a 2 wire clip for u. it should match ur dist perfectly. if not. the colors may be off because u have a jdm engine w jdm distributor(that has an internal coil).. if the colors are off.. i can just say try ur best. cuz i have a usdm manual.
here are the obd1 pinouts. pretty close to the obd2.:
1.icm-yel/grn = ecu-A21
2.cypp-yel = ecu-B11
3.cypm-blk = ecu-B12
4.tdcp-grn = ecu-B13
5.tdcm-red = ecu-B14
6.ckpp-blu = ecu-B15
7.ckpm-wht = ecu-B16
and the 2 wire clip is the same as above
another note:
on obd2 plugs the codings go like this(the #'s go left to rite, then down 1 row, and left to rite agen) and so forth for plugs C and D
A:c & d
1 2 3 4 x 5 6 7 x 8 9 10 11
12 1314151617181920212223 24
for obd1 the codings go like this( top to bottom from left to rite)
A:b & d
1 3 5 7 9 11 13
2 4 6 8 10 12
yeah... here is everything... hope it helps

Heh... good reply hondaZvic.
I just wired up the exact same setup in a friend's 97 Accord, with a 2001 motor (that didn't matter), all wired up to OBD-1. Easiest way.... use the OBD-1 plugs from the harness and run the wires to the ECU (or harness, but onto the OBD-2 side) and it'll work just fine.

I don't know which wire goes wire. I don't have a wire diagram. The colors don't match up. The colors of the wire coming from the Accord are:
yellow/blue
black/yellow
black
yellow
blue
The wires coming from the H22 SEEM to be:
small plug:
blue
black/yellow
big plug:
white
blue
orange
yellow/blue
orang/blue
blue/green
blue/yellow
**I was also told that you could use the wires from the Accord harness (5 of them) plus the four wire coming from the oil pump and wire them to the two plugs coming from the H22A***
BUT I CAN'T IDENTIFY THE WIRES. I DON'T HAVE ANY DIAGRAMS.
The H22A is JDM

Look a couple of posts up... you'll see the OBD-2 wires and their colors, AND their ECU pinout location.... all you need is what color-wire is what for the OBD-1 side.... here you go:
OBD-1
CYPM - White
CYPP - Orange
TDCP - Orange/Blue
TDCM - White/Blue
CKPP - Blue/Green
CKPM - Blue/Yellow
ICM - Yellow/Green
Black/Yel wire and Blue wire are the same, as well as the ICM wire, so you can connect those 3 up right away. For the other 6, run them straight to the ECU where you see the pinout location up a couple of posts.... that's it.

not sure if this helps but i had the same sort of problem. it seems honda goes from internal to extrenal coils more than they change underwear.. well one distributor had more wires then the accord, and it was kinda a different shape. we had to go and make it fron internal to external and then use the inside coil of a b18 and outside shell of an Lx .. blah blah blah. it was a bitch

kteller8.. i dont get waht u just sed.. hehe.. i just got bak from the club.. kinda druhnk.. heheheahha... anyway.. ya.. way to complicated.. i learned just use the distributor that goes witht he motor.. and wire it straignt to the ecu.
