Default H22 guys.. OBD2 H22 in a OBD1 civic question?

hey guys I'll be putting in a OBD2 H22a4 in my friends 93 EG hb dx, now I know that we wont be able to use the distri or injectors, what distrivutor could I use? a Accord maybe? or should I just get a 94 usdm H22 distributor? as far as injectors could I just use accord injectors? I doing as much research as I can before I do this so any help or pointers will be appreciated thanks TIA

I really dont see a problem here. Basically from what I see. Between OBD1 & OBD2 isnt the engine, its the emissions control on the car. The only thing you *might* have to do is rewire the dist. to external coil, but it really is easier than you think. Also the injectors will work all the same *you need to take out the injector resistor though.*

Edit: If you use a p28 or p72 to run the car then you wont have to wire EGR, or IAB. But you will have to wire Vtec & Vtec oil press.(of course you knew that)

Good luck
Mark

I have a 98 engine with the resistor box and so far so good... All you need to do is get a 92-95 usdm distributor and also and ODB I ECU and that is that. Wire it up and your all set.

yeah if its a USDM h22 then by a usdm h22 distrib. but if its jap h22 then you need to use LS distrib. cause usdm is external coil wire ..jdm is internal

Dude. You dont have to buy another dist. and you dont have to do **** to the one you got. Just go ahead an rewire the harness. Dont go out and buy another dist. thats the same as the one you already have.

Just re-pin the distributor to the 2 style plug using the Civic's distributor plugs. For the injectors, I would also use the OBD2 injectors just convert the plug using the prelude injector plugs (which you have to do anyway).

I have done this with an OBD1 engine in an OBD2 car converting to OBD1 using the EK harness.

I have the wire colors to switch between the two, I just can't find my damn diagram I made. I'll get the colors again though if you don't find the info.

so basically I can use the OBD2 distributor with a OBD1 p13? as long as I rewire it for 2 plug? are the colors the same on the civic harness? injectors are plug and play as long as I dont use the resistor box, correct? as far as injectors I can leave the stock DX harness as it sits just change the plugs right?

ok I pulled the 98 H22 harness off and I was wondering what sensors are by the crank? I will have to remove those wires off the distributor harness and wire them to the crank right? colors should match right?

If you're referring to the sensor by the oil pump, that is the CKF sensor (Crankshaft Fluctuation). This is for US OBD2 motors and and is not needed in OBD1.

Just disregard that sensor when wiring for OBD1.
