Default H22 ek axle problems --- Help Please

Heres the deal. I have a 2000 ek hatch w/h22 and I'm using the hasport/dss hybrid axles (level 1) The car is lowered but nothing extreme. I keep blowing out my passenger side outer cv joint. These axle cost me over $200 a piece and I'm on my 3rd pass. side one and 2nd drivers side one. These axles have never lasted longer than 5000 miles.

Is anyone else having these problems???? Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong?????

Thanks for your input! I kinda doubt that either of those are the cause but I'll keep it in mind.

Is your car lowered? Just wonderin.

what half shaft are you using? I have ENJO mounts(JDM h22 and trans) I use stock 90-93 non-abs intregra axles. I have not broken an axle in the year I have had my car. I use autozone OEM replacement axles btw. Sounds like there is an issue with mounts or something chassis related. MY car is lowered as well about 2 in.

hey man.

i have the same setup as you.

99ex w/
-hasport mounts
-dss level 1's
&
-Raxles also (for spares)

i've had a hell of a time finding the right combo and getting the correct ones from either dss or raxles..

they both have excellent customer service, but i just got my passenger side back today from dss.
im fixing to re-install it and go from there.. see how long it lasts me now...

the main thing thats killing me is shipping...

The problem is your inner CV side is 1/8" too short and is not locking in..

I've had this problem with DSS before as well. And they sent me another axle that fixed the problem. But then 2 years later the outer CV joint went out on me..

Soo, I built my own axle..

Use a 90-93 Integra axle (or the one you currently have from DSS), and you need to use a 92+ prelude or accord inner CV joint. just swap the inner cv housings, put in more CV grease, and re-clamp it.

here is a picture referring:

thats what we were thinking... it was a length issue. thought about trying the accord halfshaft w/ 90-93 teg axles.

any insight?

http://www.Raxles.com Marty is the man! ask for him. I have had trouble free with his axles on my H22 crx.

I hear a lot of people having problems with the EK chassis and the H22A engine. I think you should scrap the prelude midshaft and go with an accord and use a teg axle on that side 90-93 if its too long then 88-89 Integra 88-89 is about 1/2 shorter then the 90-93 Integra. The passenger side axle would be 90-93 Integra axle with either a accord or prelude inner joint.

Poison you hit it right on the money the problem on the passenger side is the Integra axle it self does not lock in its about 1/16-1/8" too short. There for the clip does not lock in. The prelude/accord inner joint with snap in with no problems either using a 90-93 teg axle or a shorter 88-89 Integra axle...People do run it with the integra axle and not locked in which could lead to some serious trouble...

the problems i have experienced seem to be different...

first, they seem to be to long or maybe even bent... causing alot of unwanted vibration..

so ill send them back..

then one works, and the other is still wrong..

send that one back...

then it dont snap in.. (wrong joint was put on)
send back again...
then a joint busts or something.. grease starts leaking out of the boot...
send back again...

its nothing i cant deal with.. just a pain thats all....

its not an issue of them popping out of the tranny. that happened one time -- when the swap was first done (the car was lowered alot more then), raised the car up some and never happened again.

the issue is the outer cv joints seem to keep breaking for some reason.... poor quality axles?? angle of axle?? length of axle(putting added cv stress)?? this issue isnt anything major, but it is a pain to keep replacing/sending back axles to dss. so is a "hybrid" axle the way to go? alot of people seem to use them with no problems, so were gonna give it a shot i think.

keep the comments/ideas coming... would like to know what others have experienced.

I was actually thinking of upgrading but I wanted to hear some input first! The only problem is that I plan on pulling the motor this winter and adding some HP. The $800 price would be an issue for me cause that would take away from my head money. I have to many toys!!!!!
