GSR options
Basically as of yet my vtec wont enguage.I am now %100 possitive it is wiring. My question is this what would be the best option not.
1.To try and trouble shoot each wire running through the fire wall(which I dont really wanna do)
2.Buy a complete wiring harness right off a GSR with the wires already ran
A.If I did this how much $$ do you think this would run
3.Get a vtec contoller and go completely around the ECU
B.does anybody have a cheap one they wanna sell

Re: GSR options (Deomonte21)
also I noticed last night when I was looking at the wiring there is a red wire with a blue stripe on the gsr side of the harness but on the civic side of the harness there is a plug that will not let a wire be ran ....I know that the wire is for the knock sensor what side effect would not having this wire cause??

Re: GSR options (jmm96gsr)
yea I did its throwing 2 codes 1)vtec celinoid 2)vtec oil pressure swith
....I am thinking the easiest way would be to get the entire wiring harness with the wires pre ran straight from the dealership....what do you think

Re: GSR options (Deomonte21)
I have been checking online for the wire and colors and **** like that running to the ecu it says that a green wire with a yellow stripe is for the VTEC celinoid and should run to A4 but if I remember rightly mine is being ran to A6....call me crazy but I know a few people that have done GSR swaps and none of them had any of these problems the only difference is I got an OBD2 motor they all got OBD1 motors. Is this all normal **** you have to do to get the car converted from OBD1-OBD2??

Re: GSR options (Deomonte21)
I have a 99 gsr in my 93 dx. im using a 94 p72. the ecu pinouts are the same. run the vtec solenoid directly to A4, and run the vtec pressure switch directly to D6. The vtec press. is blue/black and make sure the it is also grounded. the vtec solenoid is green/yellow. how did u connect them to the ecu? Are they secure? let me know if this helps

1. either the wiring isn't connected properly or there is a problem with both the solenoid and the oil pressure switch. (it's unlikely that they would both go bad at the same time)
2. Check the continuity from the ECU plugs to the solenoid/sensor plugs. You mentioned the wire colors so you are headed in the right direction but to really understand the wiring you need a Helms manual.
3. Clean the contacts on the solenoid & pressure sensor harness plugs.
4. If the wiring checks out, check the oil pressure. It should be at least 50 PSI at 4000-5000 RPM. If its not, the VTEC won't engage and its an indication that your engine has other problems.
5. If oil pressure checks out, replace the oil pressure switch and the solenoid
Follow those proceedures and you should be able to fix the problem.
