Funny Idling problem...
How's it goin, well I just finished my C1 swap into my hatch and its idling funny as hell (it goes up to bout 3k and stays there), I thought my accel. cable was sticking (b/c I pulled BACK on the pedal and it - the idle - dropped), Its also throwing a code 14 (IACV), would that mean my IACV is defective, someone else mentioned that my coolant level could effect the IACV enough to throw a CEL code 14. I thought it was my o2 sensor not being hooked up (b/c of the gap from the header), but I started up my car after going to the exhaust shop and it still idled funny. So, what could cause this problem?
-Low coolant?
-Defective IACV unit?
Also, can the Civic Si (D-series motor) IACV be used? I think the bolt pattern is diff, but if any1 knows, thnx.

throttle position sensor
double check the connections.
mine was bad. did same thing. steady idle at 3000.
edit: its located on the back (firewall) side of the intake manifold.

I think the sensor is part of the TB, or can it be replaced seperately.
Thanks man - love this board

it could be the connection it could be the sensor...
try the sensor off your old motor first (drill out the rivits) if the connections are fine
if that dosent work your looking at about 450$ from honda to replace the throtle body. honda is **** about selling that sensor in the sense they wont. bastards....
do you have a helms? theres a whole section on troubleshooting the sensor in there.

check your vacuum hoses on the intake manifold, on my car, when i forgot to hook back up a hose on my intake manifold the idle shot up to 3000 then i realized it was off. just check your hoses make sure they are tight and goin to the right places. thats my thoughts.
who knows, maybe it could be sompthin this simple

try takin out the iacv and just cleanin it, i did it on my d16 and it helped my idle, i also cleaned the tb, but my engine is 12 years old and the tb has never been cleaned much less anything else on the intake manifold.
needless to say my car has a few problems that make it idle funny too

Well, I reset the ecu, put more coolant in, and its still throwing a code14 (IACV),
I checked the TPS, and its str8 (since I reset the ecu, it doesn't affect the idle when I pull back on the pedal - fixed that problem), but still has the funny+erattic idling problem (still throws CEL #14), How can I check the IACV system? I disconnected it and the idle goes verry low (idles almost normal, but lower 500rpm), plug it back up and it goes berzerk (shoots to 2-3k rpm, then fluctuates).

If its a OBD2 motor, check the EGR vacumm hose if they are connected on its proper place. I had this problem on my H22 swap.

Re: Funny Idling problem... (SKiLLz-R)
Thats weird. I was having the exact same problem at the same time as you. My friend put my Skunk2 IM on Saturday and when we got it together, Same code (14) and Idling high. Sunday morning he switched connectors and let air bubbles out of coolant and its all good. It sucks that something so simple can **** you off and drive you crazy like that. Sorry for putting you through that Matt.
