Default Frankenstein setup?

I'm thinking about getting a Crvtec swap into my Ek. I wonder what kind of setup is best. What bottom end and head makes the best hp n tq? I'm kind of new in the hybrid section. Thanx

you can either get a b20b or a b20z block? b20z has a better compression ratio than a b20b. but if you are planning on getting aftermarket pistons, it doesn't matter what block you get. as far as the head goes, b16a, b16b, b18c1 or b18c5. take your pick. tranny...any b series tranny. too many diff. mods to list for this setup. just depends on what type of driving and how much power you want.

b17a is a b16a head with a p61 stamp on the intake manifold . But anyways just remember to build the weak bottom end with endyn rods and pistons they are one of the only companys that make b20 ****. And get your compution chamber mated up to the 84mm bore cylinders. then the vtec oil lines. Then build it like a regular motor..

JE also makes 84mm and 85mm pistons.

or you can use endyn pistons which are 84.5 mm pistons. I have heard great stories about endyn rollerwaves in b20's

we just finished a b20 vtec using endyn pistons-rods and a endyn prepared gsr cyclinder head.using a custom grind crower cam setup.12.8:1 compression.engine was lightend and balanced.clutchmaster alloy flywheel and clutch.with a very con-
servative tune on the engine dyno this engine made 258 whp and 174ftlbs tq.the
only way we have found to make these engines produce good power is use the gsr
head and be sure to replace the pitons and rods, also balance the bottom end so
you can take advantage of the rpm range of thevtec cams.

Default Endyn would be the way to..

As you can see from larry jr's post. He made 258 hp to the wheels. If your going to b20 make sure you check out endyn before you decide. http://www.theoldone.com to get some more info.

I heard using a B16B head would produce better compression. Would it be better than the GSR head? If so, how much does a B16B head cost and does Endyn make pistons and stuff like that? I need as much info as needed! Thanx everyone!

The GSR head will make more compression than any other head.

endyn makes pistons for the b20 and endyn also sells eagle rods. i would buy these two parts if you are planning to do a b20/vtec. also, as far as a head is concerned, just buy a b16a/b18c head and have it port and polished and add all the type r or whatever(jun, toda, spoon) valvetrain components you want.

we have not been able to make near the power with the gsr as we have with the crv/vtec.the typical cost of this engine has been 5000.00-6000.00 depending on
street or race application.
