I had the same problem...I didn't want to destroy a good LS distributor housing so I decided to get a brand new B16 (TD-44U) dizzy from DISTRIBUTOR KING 1-866-699-5464. Hit them up because their prices are very reasonable and the products look great!!!! Plus you get a 20% discount if you mention that you are a H-T member.

so it would probable be a hell of lot more worth it to just buy a b16 dizzy from dizzy king for $180 rather than hacking mine up or is it legit to cut off the leg? will there be an oil leak? plus im converting to obd1 and my ls dizzy is obd2? that would be a bitch huh?

$180 vs. free

you make the call. running 2 bolts will not leak.

you'll need to cut off the front lower leg so it will clear the VTEC solenoid

i'm pretty sure that if you try to put a ls distributor on a vtec head that the vtec will not come on.

There is some elelctrical thing/sensor(i think) inside the distributor from a vtec head that has to do with the vtec engaging on a vtec head. If you put a non-vtec dizzy on a vtec head, then the vtec will not come on. I know this from experience because I was doing a h22 swap into a integra gs-r and I put a ls dizzy on the vtec h22 head and the vtec did not engage. Swapped out the dizz with a gs-r one and vtec started working.

This is just a theory. If anyone can prove me wrong then please go ahead.

what if you just swap wires? keeping the vtec dizzy on the vtec head, but just swapping the wires inside? all the same except obd0/obd1/obd2?

im throwing in the b.s. flag with that one.... i had a 90 integra with an ls/vtec running a stock pw0 ecu. i used the factory 90 integra distributor and vtec worked no problem. then i upgraded to an obd1 setup and becuase im a cheap bastard i bought an obd2 ls distributor and vtec still worked. vtec doesnt really have anything to do with the distributor. maybe some thing was up with the h22, i dont know, but of all the swaps my friends and i have done converting a car from non vtec to vtec using the ls distributor or any other non vtec distributor we never had any problems activating vtec.....thats my .02

You can put a non-VTEC distributor onto a VTEC head but it is just that the mounting holes are in different sequence. The holes on a LS dizzy are equally apart while the B16/B18c are more like an upside-down "Y" shaped.... A distributor has nothing to do with VTEC engagement. Make sure of yourself before you post next time.

Go ahead and put it on. It won't hurt anything. Just make sure you get the timing right when you put it on because its not going to line up with the vtec head.
