f2b swap (accord engine SOHC)
This is my F2b write up.
What is F2b? its an honda accord engine and adapting a integra or civic si transmission.. The F is the engine code for the accord year letting you know what year accord engine you can use, so in this case,i am using a f22b from a 95 honda accord non vtec from JAPAN. The 2 stand for to... ok... The B is the code for integra or civic that comes with b-series engine ex: b18b1 is from integra Ls, b18c1 integra gsr, b16a2 civic si but all b-series transmission is the same so engine code doesn't matter here except that its from a b-series.
PROS AND CONS:
Pros: no cutting mount, able to keep shift linkage, axle is straight, great torque number from the f22, shorter gear ratio thanks to the adapter kit. very rare swap
Cons: not much aftermarket parts for it, headache to do the swap,
i will try to cover what needs to be cover and rest is common sense
My car before, this is when i had the B16a2, looking sexy
so pull the motor out, long story short, just take off anything connect to the car from the engine off.. then use a cherry picker to pull the engine out. easy as that
after that is done you get this
working on cars in the great outdoors sucks!!! freaking mosquitoes!
engine bay shot with no engine, like i said anything connected to the car from the motor must be taken off.. common sense..
Now its time to prep the f22 engine.
when doing the swap f2b, a few things are required to make it work, first you have to shave the rear block about 1/2 an inch, you would want to shave the distance in my picture
next you want to shave your crank pulley, so it would be a single pulley, make sure you complete shave the pulley to be even out when it become a single pulley, if not u will have to bang ur frame or shave more of the pulley..
next you want to put the f2b adapter kit on, my adapter kit is from QSD!! it comes with all the stuff you need, in the end it should look like this
now you have to put on the engine bracket, since qsd didn't sell the f2b kit, i had to modify it so i can u the engine bracket that comes with the kit to fit my f22.. since the orignal kit is for h2b (prelude doch vtec) i had to cut the engine bracket and shave it so it would fit.. the bottom block is the same f-series and h-series, it was the top of the bracket i had to worry about, so i grind it and i came out with this
now i know its not the best but it will do perfect, clearance is the key not quailty...
after i put everything together it will look like this
i was able to put the motor in and bolt it up and everything seem to sit great, here are some important pictures
crank pulley space, its very tight but barley cleared..
i think i got to much room on the tranny side.. i should push the motor more toward the passanger side, but o.well
will up date more

Re: f2b swap (accord engine SOHC)
Next time...swap from the bottom --- easier and you dont break your back or hurt/scratch the car
This setup boosted will be a very inexpensive and solid powerplant....350-400whp should be no problem with a cam and decent boost.
Here is a consevative F22 boosted setup on a small turbo
http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewt...hp?f=32&t=3617
The record for stock block is around 350 or so and climbing as people are pushing the limits more (civic racers) with a simple cam upgrade 400+whp stock block should be more than possible

Fs have a lot of potential.
my nonvtec f22 stock bottomend made 344/290 on 14 psi, and i ran it for quite a while at 20 PsI. awesome engines, just stock.
