EX Swap???
Has anyone done a vtec head swap from an OBDII Civic EX onto an OBDII Civic CX or DX. I have a 2000 Civic CX and I can get an EX swap for CHEAP. Can this be done?? Is there any info on the net, I cant seem to find anyting on Hybrid. Thanks.

Sweet, so do you have any suggestions as far as what to do to the motor before I drop it in?? Mods, etc.... Also , will I need the EX wiring harness, or will my CX harness work?? Thanks

I bought a complete: EX head with new head gasket; intake manifold with new gasket; AEM CAI for the EX; DC header for the EX; timing belt for EX and a Field SFC-VTEC Controller. I used the CX throttle body because of a missing plug on the EX one, but got the CX TB bored out.
That is basically everything you need. The head bolts right up just like a CX and you do not need to worry about an external oil line. The problem I have is the shop did not remove the oil control jet on the CX block, so VTEC isn't kicking in. But this will be solved soon. The swap is almost identical to this http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/z6swap/z6swap.html
Good luck, email or icq me

Sweetness Gubo22, glad to hear you've found the problem. I'll be doing mine myself so as long as I don't screw up I should be good. As far as the harness and ECU, I have yet to find one for a good price. The Field controller is a bit pricey for my blood also. I've seen a few articles on using an RPM activated switch to control the VTEC solenoid, so this is what I'm going to do until I can find a reasonably priced EX ECU and harness. The MSD and Autometers are expensive because you have to buy RPM selectors or pills, but VDO makes one with a built-in dial to select RPM for about 50 bucks. Check out http://www.racerwholesale.com under gauges. My head should be here this week, but it will be an extra couple of weeks before I get it back again from being ported. I'll post any pertinent details. And damn that Helms was expensive.
