EUDM EK-GSR, slight problem with vtec.
I recently swaped my -96 EK3's from a D15Z6 to a EUDM B18C4, basically the EU-version of the north americas B18C1.
The swap went smoothly kind of anyway.. hehe Both
Had to convert the D15Z6-wire harness changing the connecting sockets to the ECU and adding wires for the additional functions.
Of course EUDM hondas are OBD-I up to 2001 but the connecting sockets still differ from model to model. A friend had to come by and clear and recode the immobilizer unit since the immo-unit didnt recognize the new ECU.
The Car started up properly at the first try and didn't throw a single error code.
I got worried that the diagnostic function might not work properly so i disconnected the vtec actuation cable and instantly got a CEL with a code. ok so I guess diagnostic is working then.
I'have been driving it daily now för the past month with no problem what so ever mechanically.
BUT!
Vtec kicks in at 4500 rpm instead of 5800 or whenever it is supposed to.
what's the problem you might think?
well since i'm running a stock GSR intake with the dual runner-thingy
I'm getting 4500rpm - ~6000rpm vtec with the LONG runners, the car is hesitating until 6000 when the shorter runners open up and the engine "does it thing" properly.
Any ideas of what might be wrong?
Iam thinking of getting a skunk2 intake manifold and installing my apexi vafc (still in the box, lazy me).
I would like to solve this "problem" the right way before going to far from the "stock" parts

The car is currently modded with:
DC JDM SS header (2.5")
2.5" RSR-style exhaust with cat-replacement pipe
ITR intake and filter box
STR adjustable cam sprockets (currently not adjusted 0,0 )
please excuse my spelling and grammar, writing from Gothenburg, Sweden

Re: EUDM EK-GSR, slight problem with vtec. (NeMoo)
I have just completed a GSR swap and mine is hitting Vtec at 5800rpm. But I was sure it should engage at 4500rpm
here is a link with some good info on B18C'c

Re: EUDM EK-GSR, slight problem with vtec. (tiresmoke)
Thanks a lot tiresmoke!
Seems like it's working alright then.
Now I can get back to worrying about how to get even more power out of the engine.
and yes i should probably try the search-button a little bit harder next time.
