Default engine advice

i've been a member for a while under dfish but i lost it somehow...

I'll be selling my tuned 97 gsx this spring because i need a college car... a college car that can also kick some but in autox and a little road racing.

I'm not a newb but i need some advice, I'm planning on buying a 92+ hatch and doing an engine swap, I would use it for a daily driver, autox, and some track days. FI isn't an option (i want something reliable, rember i own a dsm )

i was thinking a ctr motor or gsr motor maybe even a b16a. a itr is out of my price range. What would you guys reccomend, is the ctr motor worth it? the gsr motor has motor tq, but i'm assuming it weighs more and might throw off the ballance. I've done some research, and looked at many faq's but none seem to cover swaps in enough detail.

this would also be my first swap.

any advice on which motor?
thanks

What is your price range? You can get away with an h22 swap for $3200 or less. So help me god if you say understeer... you have obviously never driven one.

Best bet though is to get the standard b16 swap for cheap and have fun.

H22 + EG = Understeer!

(I know, I'm an ***. couldn't resist)

seriously though, B16/18 swap is cake. you could do it in a long day. H22 is more rewarding, more of a pain in the *** to swap in. Most of the anti-H22 EG comments you hear around here are made out of pure ignorance. It handles great and hauls ***. B16 is going to be the cheapest and easiest, but is awfully torqueless. Might not be enough if you are used to a boosted DSM. On the other hand, EG's are light.

bolt on H22 EG hits 13s pretty easily. You make the call.

Your suspension determines handling far more than the motor. If you go h22 you will need good brakes though.
