Default Ef swap trouble (wiring odb1-odb0)

My friend recently put an odb1 zc swap in an 89 civic. It starts but it is running like crap and has a bouncing idle. Also none of his gauges are working. He is using his old odb0 intake manifold setup, and transmission but everything else is odb1. It is throwing a code 17 which I think is the speed sensor. That shouldnt have any effect on how it runs right? I was wodereing if anyone on here knows if there is any additional wiring that needs to be setup since he is using the factory harness which is odb0 with an odb1 motor. Thanks for any help.

I'm doing a B16A2 swap which is OBD1. I've been doing some research myself. Check to see if the O2 sensor wires need to be swapped, is the distributor OBD1 or OBD0, is the tranny cable or hydro? I have a cable in mine, so if his is a hydro, I don't know what to tell you. It also might be in the wiring harness itself. Also what ECU is he running? Make sure all the connectors are secure and no broken wires. Hope this helps in some kind of way. Later.

We will check the 02 sensor, but it has a cable tranny and an odb1 distributor. Not sure what ecu he is using but it came with the swap. My brother thinks the coolant temperature sensor needs to be rewired to the ecu harness since the motor odb1. Anyone know about this?

That site has a lot of good info, but I still cant find what needs to be rewired. Also the gauge cluster doesnt work, does anyone have an idea what wiring needs to be done.
