Default ecu question

was thinkin of using an ob2 engine, in my eg. I was wandering which ecu to use. I know the p72 is the obd1 ecu, but when using an obd2 engine what ecu is the best one to use in a EG. the motor was going to be a b18c1. Im going with a fairly new one because I just want the newest engine w/the least amount of miles on it I can find. All help is greatly appreciated. Also is the wiring any different between the two?

thanx,chazz

Just use the OBD1 GSR ecu and use your stock engine wire harness and plug it into the new motor.

OBDII engine will require harness converter + few extra sensors added, it will cost much more then finding a OBDI ecu, and it will be alot more restrictive and alot more expensive to chip

Chazz..
If you go with a US/JDM OBD2 B18C engine, make sure you pick up a US 96-01 INTEGRA engine harness (Type-R especially since it has vtec wiring integrated into it already). It will plug into your EG's main harness (at pass.side shock tower). You won't have to swap to OBD1 ignition parts or injectors either.

Its best to stick with the OBD1 P72 aslo. You wont have to worry about those pesky extra OBD2 sensors you'd have to wire up if you were planning to use an OBD2 ecu.

ok. you need help, come to me. trust me on this. I have a 99 gsr motor in my 92 VX. Use the gsr engine harness. (obd-2) and go find yourself a obd-1 ecu. and don't go my P72, because there are obd-1 and obd-2 P72's. run the Obd-1 ecu. all you have to do it give the black wire on the IAB a 12v switched sourse(any yellow black wire) switch A20 to A17. and run knock sensor from D3. my civic is a VX though. I didn't haev to run vtec wires. and my knock sensor wire was already ran to the strut tower. its easy as hell. but don't use your stock harness. its too screwed up. and trying to mess with it is a pain. if you need and help let me know.
if you need any other help, like where A20 or A17 is, or CEL codes, go to http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/index.html
that site rules.
