I am getting the knock sensor code.... Its not wired up, had to get a new sensor and didnt install it yet. Would this CEL cause the car to adjust the timing or anything. I dont know if its related, but since i did the timing on my car, it has been backfiring after hitting vtec, and doesnt seem to run that strong up top.

Yes it will cause the ECU to run in limp mode. Since the sensor isn't hooked up and working properly, it thinks that the car is knocking so it's going to do that until you get it fixed.

What exactly is limp mode?? IT retards the timing?? Does it also disable vtec?

 

All extra services (VTEC, etc.) are disabled. Redline is lowered. Timing is retarded, and you are running rich.

I've run a PR3 ECU on an LSVTEC, no knock sensor, threw cel 23 everywhere I went, never went into limp mode.

 

Was there a noticeable difference in performance?? Like the timing being retarded or the car running richer?? Cause my car semes to be *******, and backfires, but still vtec.

 

Same here...my tuner said that it will retard timing but not at full throttle.
