differences between OBD1 and OBD2 B16 long blocks?
Hey all, I found a good deal on a obd2 b16 longblock and I want to put it in my 94 si hatch (obd1). Is there any part of the longblock (intake mani, head, bottom end, exhaust mani,...) that would force me to convert to an obd2 wiring configuration?
TIA, Matt

only difference is the distributor and alternator plugs. but if its a US motor(or LHD)
then you can just plug the engine harness into the car and use an OBD1 ecu
to run it.

If the motor is out of a 99or 00 SI there is no intake air temp sensor so you will have to change the plug and put it in the air intake or change the manifold. The only other difference wont matter and that is the oilpump and crankanglesensor on the pump.97 Delsol is also the same as SI .96 has the proper manifold. Speaking USDM blocks.

Its the diagnostics system a car uses. the newer the car gets the more polution control items you get. The slower the car gets. The newer **** monitors things like your fuel tank and pressure and every gas your car emmits things like o2 sensors before and after the cat. The basic idea is to make a car emit less. thats why you see ULEV and LEV on some Hondas.1989 and lower usually have OBD 90 to 95 OBD1 and 96OBD2. On Board Diagnostics is cool only cause you can watch your check engine light to figure what you broke like O2 and crank angle. As the car is newer you can have more things go wrong. Most will ruin your performance and give a secondary map which means no VTEC for you.
