Default DC 4-1 and cat?

I just installed a DC 4-1 on my OBD1 GSR motor and it feels really good, especially up top.

i have a stock cat with about 100k on it. I am thinking about gutting it, will i throw a cel. I know OBD2 cars will, but I dont know about OBD1.

Anybody done this, hows it sound, gains?

well if you do go and gut your cat out you might accualy might be doing some bad, since you car (guessing NA) need a slight amount of back pressure to work right.... but the sound without a cat is really raspy in the lower RPMs in every gear.... and besides w/ cat or w/o there anit really going to be any real gain, at least that you could notice, my freind has a 93 hatch with a gsr w/o a cat and it really sounds bad off the line...

instead of gutting the cat, just get a high flow cat or test pipe. the lack of backpressure will hurt your low end HP, but you will gain top end. They both sound raspy though. You can't have a decent size exhaust on a honda without sounding raspy unless you run a stock cat.

well if you also look at it this way, we've (the guys im with) weve put a stock cat and a aftermarket cat on a flow bench and tested the flow, there the same in that the sizes were different, so as long as the cat was made after ~84 or something like that your fine, but if you go to a junk yard or salvage yard and ask if they have any cats from after 86 (thats when all cars went to the honycomb style) with the size pipe you need they should have some... good luck man...
