Longer gearing = slower, so if economy and comfort are you goal, than you are on teh right track.

imo, longer gearing = better for a turbo

Shorter gears are faster, boosted, N/A, SC'ed whatever.

I strongly disagree. This all depends on your car and engine set up. On a FI heavier car with a smaller displacement engine, yes a shorter gear tranny can be better choice but on a lighter FI car with a larger displacement say b18/b20 and larger you will have better times with a longer gear tranny. It's all because of traction and don't even say you need better tires to remedy this problem because with the small fwd honda front end your tire options are very limited especially if you are on street tires and stock fenders. The lower the gear you have on the tranny the more torque your putting on the ground, why do you think an all motor engine with the same hp #'s as a FI motor will almost always win.
Your tranny choice will also depend on the turbo you choose to run if your going FI. The larger the turbo the longer it will take to spool so you would benefit from the longer gear. If you have a smaller turbo that reaches peak spool quicker you will want a shorter gear ratio. This will vary on whether it is a track car/street car/ whatever you want car. You have 4 basic choices of the tranny: gsr, ls, type r, and SI. The lsd is a good addition to any tranny not already equipped, it takes less hp to turn one wheel than two.

You don't have to agree, it's still a fact.
