Default D16y7 to d16y5 swap

ok. I have a 1996 Honda Civic dx had a d16y7 with a manual. The motor came out of a 1999 civic hx with the auto. I used the complete harness and axles along with the whole complete engine and Ecu and gauge cluster. Before I swapped motors the gauge cluster worked fine. Now the tach and speedo don't work. And even before I did the swap had an idle surge problem I couldn't figure out. And don't exactly have 175 to spend on a new iacv. Any idea or tips to try. Oh and the fuel pump stays running with ignition on and check engine light stays on. The idle surge don't start until the srs light goes off. And ideas at all to try is greatly appreciated.

You need a manual Ecu for that swap. And you'll also have to wire in the 5 wire oxygen sensor. I'm guessing your check engine light is on? If so post the codes.

I got the ecu wiring an everything out of the hx. I'm getting a tach signal from the dizzy. tried a different cluster. And just went to pull codes I notice no connection detected. When I changed engine harness is there some pins in supposed to change around or something? Between the green plugs by the ecu?

Check the codes via the faq above using a paper clip.

So let me get this right, you swapped an 99 auto hx into your 96 dx? All wiring were replaced in the 96? What wires were replaced and what ecu are you currently using in the 96 dx?

I used the motor, engine harness, Ecu, coil overs, and various other parts. Looks like a couple of wires in the green plugs by the ecu might be different but not sure.

If you got the whole engine harness all that should already be wired into the ECU connector so no additional wiring should be needed for those items.
