Default D15 VTI / Worth it or not?

Alright i feel really stupid im new to this bord i dont now if this will get closed or not but i have to ask you guys this question. I have a Civic DX coupe 95' i wanted to do the b18 but no money. I'm starting to fall in love with SOHC only becuase to me there funner to build. Now here it is, i was wondering if the D15BVTI motor is worh it. or some of you guys call it the JDM VTI motor, I mean it has 130Hp and its got Vtec and i love that but i dont want to get in to somthing that wont be fun. I know i wont be doing 12 sec with it but i would like to build it and run zex threw it and see where i get. I'm just learing how to build thigns and i would much rather blow a D series than a B series. So if an one has one of these motors or ha heard of them fill me in thanks.
