I believe it's part of the speedo unit...for the EF H22A swap you use the D series speedo unit with a longer clip into the H series trans. Swap out the complete units...

On the D series (ZC EF) is in the back of the gearbox towards the driver side, inline with the midshaft... you will see the cable going to it and a bolt and a clip...slide the rubber up, pull the clip out...take the bolt out thats holding the other clip...slide the clip out...use vis scripts if you have to and wiggle the speedo unit back and fourth and pull straight up...there is nothing holding it in other then that clip so don't be afraid to pull hard...

Can you tell me if its A or B of this picture? I believe its A, out of interest is B something to do with steering or cluth? I wasnt there when the engine was removed.

I had a go with some vice grips on part A and no luck. Shall I throw some heat at it?

Thanks

B is where the shift linkage goes.

Correct A is the speedo unit...pull it out and put it in the h22a...slides right in...just need to make a longer clip...

Its the pulling out bit thats got me. Ive tried some grips on it. Hammer/screwdriver combo and it wont budge! Shall I heat it?

Theres no rubber boot that I can see. Can I attack it from the bottom?

Thanks for your help so far dude

Sometimes it slides out easy as butter other times you will need to take vis scripts or use a screw driver as a pry of the crevce where the clip went into the speedo clip...

Its not budging, I managed to crack part of the lip off the sensor. I heated it up with a butane torch and kept a screwdriver under the lip applying pressure upwards but no joy. Can I get to it if I remove the gearbox? Drastic times call for drastic measures (or is that Dragstrip times call for Dragstrip measures )

Yes it's not that easy 1 outta 3 trannies give me trouble and act as if it's spot welded in. Prying usually gets them out though with the screw driver on the crevice. If you can't get it out see if your local junkyard has any 88-91 Civics or Crxs any 88-91 D series will work...(ZC)...you may have better luck...
