Code 22 - VTEC Oil Pressure, & Can't rev past 6500RPM P72 OBD2
I have a h22 swapped in an EK with it running a P72.
It worked fine for one day (VTEC was working, rev limit was 8K) then the next day I'm throwing code 22, VTEC isn't activating, and its cutting off at 6500RPM.
How do I fix code 22? Thank you.

from my experience, code 22 is caused by several things. Check oil level, ground of vtec solenoid, and vtec solenoid itself.

I have read I need to clean the VTEC solenoid. How do I do that?
I just did an oil change (this happened before the oil change so i figured I needed to change my oil.) and I checked the ground as well. What else could it be? VTEC did work one day, and then just stopped.

ok cleaned the VTEC solenoid. still nothing.
I hooked up a wire from the battery to the vtec wire and solenoid clicked, meaning the solenoid is good. However it still doesn't engage.
I'm going to have my friend RE-wire VTEC for me and we'll see how that goes

rewired VTEC and nothing still.
Code 22 came back.
I'm getting a new oil pan.
anyone have any other ideas?
anyone have the pinout for a p72 obd2a?
i have the ones that everyone posts but I read somewhere that those are special because the ECU checks for the ground. meaning it would be a plug on the ECU meaning thats why its not working.
Anyone have any light on that?

Ground the wire from the VTEC pressure switch.
It will complete the circuit that the ECU needs to activate VTEC.

you can only ground the pressure switch wire to the chassis with certain ecu's. Others look for the signal. P72 needs to be grounded to the ecu (A26 on OBD1), but I don't know the pinout for obd2a. If you cant find the pinouts in an H-T search, try pgmfi.org. That site is all about ecus.

Re: Code 22 - VTEC Oil Pressure, & Can't rev past 6500RPM P72 OBD2
im having a problem with vtec on my ls/vtec stock b18b block with built b16 head and jg cams, vtec kicks once then i get code 22 and it wont come on again. i changed the solenoid and switch and filter and still only works once. i have check and changed wiring and im stumped, after vtec kicks the car sputters and doesnt drive properly so now im thinking its oil pump but car drives fine it i stay below 6,000 rpm and out of vtec. i even tried bridging the vtec oil pressure switch and solenoid wires and then vtec kicks 3 times 1st gear through 3rd gear then code 22 comes back again, can anyone offer any other suggestions ? oh ive tried many different ecus and still the same result

u might have a mechanical problem..there a dowel and an oring on the cam cap #3..if they are missing u might not have enough pressure to open vtec or ur losing pressure..as soon as u open it..if its kicking u out of vtec after u jump A4 and D6 on the ecu to bypass the oil switch then ur gonna have to open the head...also make sure u have oil in the car..
