Default Code 1... How do I get rid of this????

Ok, I've swapped a 94 B18c1 into my 1998 CX Hatch. I used my CX wiring harness, and extended all the necessary wires for the swap. The car runs great, until it is warm or I try to hit VTEC. When this happens I get a code 1, which is Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater, according to my knowledge. So I've swapped out my o2 sensor, at least 3 times, with no luck.

When I change the plug (to the secondary sensor plug), it throws code 41, so I know that the actual o2 sensor cannot be the problem. I actually went as far as to change the wiring harness (used an EX harness from a 97 civic) and it still throws code 1. I dont understand it.

The car runs great, until the CEL light comes on, and then it seems to be running in "limp mode", even though VTEC still works. VTEC although is really faint sounding, even with an intake and exhaust, regardless though, it is working.

If anyone can offer some suggestions that would be great. I'm using a P30 ECU (from the 94 GSR I got the motor out of), and right before I put the engine in the car, the GSR through no codes in its previous shell.

I'm at the point where I'm deciding if buying a B16B is worth my trouble. If I could save the money and get the most out of this B18C, then that would be preferred.

If you can help, please post. Thanks.

code 1 is not a ehater, it is the sensor itself.
code 41 is a heater circuit.

are you sure it is code 1 and not code 10?

^^^^^^what he said ^^^^^^

Are you running OBD2 or ODD1. you car is OBD2 and your engine/ecu is OBD1.

P30 is an OBD1 B16 ecu. usually out of a del sol.

I would suggest wiring your car to OBD1.
check your O2 sensor wiring.
use a P72 gsr ecu or chipping a P28 (if you don't care about or removed your secondaries)

If you think it might be a 10 insted of 1, clean/replace your intake air temp sensor.

Default Re: (RippinVTEC)

I apologize for the errors in my post last night. I am using a P72 ECU from my GSR, and a jumper harness. I'm using the CX wiring harness, as well as the CX o2 sensor.

I used the o2 sensor from the top of the manifold, should I have used the lower?

I know it's code 1 because it was previously throwing both code 10 and code 1, and I replaced the IAT sensor to get rid of code 10.

Thanks for the replies and once again I'm sorry for leaving out information in my post last night (it was new years eve and I had a bit of wine prior to my post).
