Default Cel light on, but wont throw codes

I just put my 2000 B18C5 in my 96CX. I used a 96EX harness, and made a conversion adapter to plug my 2000 ITR ECU, with the immobilizer removed.

Car idles fine.
motor has a brand new rebuild, so I haven't even taken it up to 3000 RPM yet, and have only driven it around the block (still need a cat and its loud as ****). Per Helms, I let the car idle for 15-20 minutes after reaching operating temp (fan came on twice)..

So anyway. I knew my CEL light would be on, and there are a few codes I am expecting....but for the life of my, I can't get it to play the codes.

I shorted the blue 2 pin connector above the ecu, then I turn the car to [ON] and the CEL light just remains lit. I have disconnected the ecu from the harness at least 2 times to "Reset" it. I am not going to pull the fuse in case that makes a difference...

Any other ideas why it wont play codes? I am also positive that I am shorting it as well.

thanks

May be the conversion harness you have. Have you tried to hook a scanner up to it??? If you don't have one Autozone will hook one up for free and tell you the codes.

Thanks for the tip. I just installed a JDM ITR ecu and everything looks fine for now.

I went over the conversion harness at least 3 times when I put it together. Every single wire that was on the ITR ECU was found on the EX harness, and then checked in both directions, so I am pretty confident that I have the conversion harness correct. I will try it again with a different ECU if I am able to get my hands on one.

I have run into this probelm before and the only thing I have done is to take whatever you are using to short it out and try placing it back in. I typically use a small paper clip or something and have found that sometimes the springiness of the clip wanting to saty open keeps it from making good contact. Give it a try.
